*** The lane closure is now rescheduled from Friday July 6th to Monday July 9th***

A portion of Highway 218 south of Mount Pleasant will be closed for road construction next Friday.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation work on northbound Highway 218 between Henry County Road J20 or Salem Road and River Road will require closing the roadway and bridge over the Skunk River to traffic from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, July 6th, weather permitting. The closure was previously scheduled for June 29th but due to recent and anticipated rainfall the date has been moved. A signed detour will direct motorists around the work zone which includes J20. The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. Drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
