At Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman Monday night the No. 3 ranked Iowa City Regina Regals took a pair of River Valley Conference baseball games from Mid-Prairie.

The Regals stormed out of the gate to a 13-0 win in game one in five innings. The Regals scored in each of their five at-bats posting a pair of runs in the first, one in the second, five in the third, four in the fourth and a single tally in the fifth, while holding the Golden Hawks to just four hits on the night.

Game two was a much tighter affair, with Regina scoring a 4-2 extra inning win. The Regals posted a single run in the first only to see Mid-Prairie answer with one of their own in the second. The Regals took the lead back with a run in the fifth at 2-1. Down to their final three outs, the Hawks rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extras. In the top of the eighth the Regals pushed across a pair of runs and were able to close the door on the Hawks in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win. Collin Gingerich threw all eight innings for the Golden Hawks and drove in one at the plate. With the sweep Mid-Prairie is now 5-8 on the season as they face Durant Tuesday.
