Lone Tree residents and surrounding community members will get to exercise at the new Lone Tree Wellness Center starting next week.

Construction is completed on the $3.4 million center which is owned by the Lone Tree Community School District, and will be facilitated by Wellness Center Director Taylor Hotek. He describes the building’s features, “We’ve got a full size basketball court that has a center curtain so we can split it into two. We’ve got a three lane indoor track, we’ve got a weight room, a cardio room, and then an aerobics studio for group courses and functional strength training.”

Hotek says so far they have scheduled a Zumba class, functional training for seniors, as well as other group fitness classes of varying intensity. Hotek previously taught physical education and coached at Beckman Catholic School in Dyersville. He has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Wartburg College and a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine, California. Hotek explains why he applied for the director position, “I think it was a great opportunity and I’m really excited about building something from the ground up, and working with the community and with the school to make this a special place.”

A grand opening ribbon cutting will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the Lone Tree Wellness Center. For membership rates click here.
