Work is moving along to complete the first phase of a downtown streetscape project in the City of Riverside.

Mayor Allen Schneider says that construction on the approximate $1.7 million-project is going well and is on schedule to be completed by the end of June. Schneider says the biggest concern is avoiding as much negative impact as possible to downtown businesses. He comments, “We’ve been trying to do everything we can to work with the owners and with the contractors to minimize any disruption. And then we’ve put up some additional signage to let people know that those businesses are still open during construction, so we’re trying to do everything we can to minimize that impact.”

J & L Construction is doing storm drainage work on West First Street, redoing the raised sidewalks, and repairing the alley and parking. A portion of Pioneer Street, or Riverside Road, is closed during the project with a detour posted utilizing River and Ella Streets.
