Sigourney softball took their third loss of the season last night, falling North Mahaska in New Sharon by a score of 9-6.

The Savages were up 5-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but a seven-run eighth inning put North Mahaska up 9-5.  Sigourney managed to score one run in the top of the seventh, but that was all they could muster.

Unearned runs were the story for Sigourney, with only three of the nine runs being credited to pitcher Jordan VanEe. Autum and Summer Barthelman had solid games at the plate, going 1-4 and 1-3 respectively, each scoring a run and combining for five stolen bases.  Summer also drove in a run.

They’ll go back at it again tonight when they host Moravia.
