Seven agencies responded to reports of an ammonia chemical release at Koch Nitrogen Company northwest of West Chester Tuesday.

According to the Washington County Communications Office at 12:52 p.m. a call went out for a small valve leak at Koch Nitrogen Company located at 2156 Fir Avenue. Everyone was evacuated and no injuries were reported. The valve leak was capped off and there was no chemical release. Wellman Fire Department, Wellman Rescue, Keota Fire Department, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and emergency management responded. Muscatine HAZMAT was requested and then disregarded per Wellman Rescue.
