Farmers had 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork last week according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

They were busy harvesting hay, delivering grain, replanting storm-damaged fields, and applying herbicides. High temperatures and humidity continued to stress livestock and pasture conditions are 64% good to excellent. In southeast Iowa 97% of soybeans have emerged, above the five-year average of 85%. At this time Iowa’s soybeans are rated at 21% excellent, 59% good, 17% fair, and 3% poor to very poor. Across the state nearly all of the corn crop has emerged. Corn is rated at 24% excellent, 60% good, 13% fair, and 3% poor to very poor.
