The Fourth of July will soon be celebrated and with that Washington residents are reminded of city regulations for the use of fireworks.

The city ordinance states, “No person shall discharge a consumer fireworks device outside the following dates and hours: July 3rd from the hours of 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., July 4 from the hours of 9 a.m. until 11 p.m., and December 31 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. January 1.”

Also, the use of aerial shell kits, mine, and shell devices is prohibited. Sky lanterns with open flames are not permitted unless they are tethered by a retrievable rope. Last year the state legislature approved the sale and use of fireworks during certain times of the year and each city may limit the use of fireworks but not the sale.
