The Highland Husky softball team ended their season back on July 3, losing to conference foe Wapello by a 4-0 score to cap off a 14-13 year.

Despite the winning record, one could consider this something of an off year for Highland.  It was their first season to not make it to 20+ wins since 2012, and the closest they’ve been to .500 in at least the last 11 years.  That said, though, there’s still plenty to be proud of.

The Huskies got six all-conference selections in Abbie Miller, Aly Stokes, Emily Yahnke, Megan Hoening, Sara Schneider, Kylie Wood and Kinzie Hora.  Miller drove in 10 runs in a single game, three of the top five base-stealers in the conference were Huskies and Hoening pitched the team to an 11-5 conference record.

After graduating two seniors in Murphy Beinhart and Brylee Carolan, the Huskies will look to get back to dominant fashion next year behind a talented junior class, all five of which were all-conference players.  The class also features two former all-state players in Hoening and Miller.
