The Keota Eagle baseball team fell in the first round of the playoffs to KCII area foe Iowa Mennonite, capping off the program’s first winning season since 2011.

The Eagles went 10-5 in conference play, finishing third in the South Iowa Cedar League.  They were led offensively by seniors Cole Brenneman, Riley Conrad and Jack Eakins, each sporting batting averages over .300.  Eakins and Brenneman also drove in 20 runs or more.

Junior Austin Waterhouse led the way on the mound for Keota this season, starting a team-high 12 times and tossing 42.1 innings.  He ended the year with a 3.97 ERA, 36 walks and 49 strikeouts.  Freshman Carson Sprouse and eighth-grader Colton Clarahan were also notable pitchers for the Eagles, each with an ERA under two.

The Eagles finished the year 11-9 and say goodbye to Brenneman, Conrad, Eakins, and Hunter Wilson.
