After a first-round loss to Cardinal of Eldon in the district playoffs, the Sigourney baseball team finished their season with a 12-10 record.

The Savages finished tied for fourth in the South Iowa Cedar League.  Despite that, they led the conference as a team with 99 RBI in conference play, and also cracked more extra-base hits (35; 32 doubles, three triples) against SICL opponents than any other team in the conference.

Throughout the year, the Savages were led offensively by junior Carson Crawford, a first-team all-southeast district player.  He led the team in batting average (.433), RBI (26), on-base percentage (.595), slugging (.633) and walk/strikeout ratio (19/7).

Despite missing the first three weeks of the season due to injury, sophomore Peyton Schauf was also a key contributor for the Savages, both offensively and on the pitcher’s mound.  After his return, Schauf posted a .359 batting average (second on the team), two home runs and 17 RBI.  As a pitcher, he tossed 18.2 innings and struck out 28 while sporting a 3.82 ERA through five starts.

This season’s Sigourney baseball roster did not have a single senior on it; Crawford, Schauf and the rest of the team will return next season.
