Some of the world’s oldest silent films can be seen in Ainsworth tonight at the 22nd annual Brinton Film Festival.

Local historian Michael Zahs will narrate the films from the Brinton collection at the Ainsworth Opera House Community Center, “What makes it even more exciting this year is that the film festival in Ainsworth is the longest running film festival in Iowa. There was a film festival that started before we did but it no longer runs and so now we are the longest running film festival in Iowa which I think is a big deal.”

Zahs will also share about his travels with the Saving Brinton documentary as it has been frequently screened around the world this year. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the final night of this year’s festival with an ice cream social and the films will be shown from 7:45-8:45 p.m. A freewill donation is being accepted with proceeds going towards the Ainsworth Opera House.
