Residents are invited to learn more about earth’s closest star this Saturday at the Washington County Conservation Education Center.

Washington County Conservation is hosting a “Sun Study” program which will feature family-friendly activities in which they’ll explore heat and light, conduct some experiments, and soak up some essential Vitamin D. Naturalist Pam Holz shares what valuable information this program will bring, “Well, one about UV light and sunscreen and how to protect yourself from that and when is it out and so forth, as well as the fact that you do need to get outside and get some sun as well because that’s the best way to get Vitamin D and how Vitamin D is important. And then there’s just some fun things that they can even do at home and try and have their own experiments.”

Activities will include making and using a solar oven, using the sun for art, telling time by the sun, and using your shadow to discover direction. If there is inclement weather activities will be modified to be held inside the Conservation Education Center. Sun Study will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park and is free and open to the public.
