The Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team saw their season come to an end Saturday night in the opening round of the class 1A playoffs, falling to the Danville Bears 18-8 in six innings.

WMU had scored their lone win of the year over the Bears by a 5-1 score. The Wolves got on top first with a single run in the top of inning one only to see Danville score three times in the first and second innings to build a 6-1 lead. Danville extended their lead to 15-1 with a huge nine run fourth inning, but down to their final at bat the Wolves rallied for seven to climb back within 15-8. The Bears scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to finish the mercy rule shortened game. Christian Gerot led the Wolves with a two for four night at the plate. With the loss WMU wraps up their season at 1-24. They will say good-bye to seniors Tristan Kaufman and Mitchell Niebuhr.
