Demons shut out CPU

Coming off a seven-game week last week, the Washington Demon baseball team got a fresh start last night against Center Point-Urbana, winning by a 4-0 score.

The Demons came out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brant Stout was driven in on a Luke Turner sacrifice fly.  It remained a pitching duel through and through until the Demons struck for three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 4-0 lead, which they would hold through the next half-inning to win it.

Washington got by on a pair of stellar pitching performances.  Kole Hinrichsen got the start and threw two innings of one-hit baseball while striking out five.  Luke Turner came on for the remaining five innings, giving up just three hits while striking out three and walking one.

Turner also led the way at the plate, going 2-2 with an RBI.  Brant Stout was right behind with a 2-3 performance at the plate, scoring once and stealing a base.

The win improves the Demons to 21-10 on the season.  They’ll be put to the test for one final regular season game tonight on the road, in a potential Substate final preview against fifth-ranked Solon.  First pitch for that game is scheduled for 7:00.
