After a 5-20 season, the Columbus Wildcat softball team had four players named all-conference for the Southeast Iowa Superconference’s north division.

No first-teamers were named from Columbus, but the Wildcats had two second-teamers in junior Aubrey Duncan and freshman Emma Milder.  Two more, sophomore Kayla Beenan and junior Anna Hamilton, received honorable mentions.

Duncan is one of two catchers on the second team after sporting a .222 batting average and 8 RBI on the season.

Milder was great in her freshman season, hitting .345 and leading the team in stolen bases (13) and runs scored (18).  Her team-high 19 walks, just one fewer than her 20 hits, assisted with her team-best .513 on-base percentage.  Milder also pitched for the Wildcats, sporting a team-low 3.60 ERA in 46.2 innings of work.

Beenan did fairly well in her sophomore campaign, hitting .271 while driving in nine runs and scoring eight.  She came in fourth on the team in each of those three categories as well as on-base percentage (.397) and slugging (.333).

Hamilton was the team’s leader in hits (21), RBI (14), and slugging percentage (.453) this season.  She was also the only Wildcat to have a home run, which came against Highland in the second-to-last game of the regular season.  Hamilton was also the go-to pitcher throughout the season, leading the team in starts (14), innings pitched (65.2) and strikeouts (54).

The Wildcats have the potential to bring every player on this year’s roster back into the fold next season, as the team loses no seniors to graduation.
