From canvas to water softener tube, a variety of art media will be seen around downtown Washington this month.

The annual Gallery Walk will be taking place July 16th-29th where visitors can see various forms of art in storefronts. Repainted water softener tubes will line the sidewalks as part of the Totally Tubular Transformation. Isabella Santoro with the LET’s Center for the Healing & Creative Arts says anyone can make a tube into art, “That’s one of the things I love about this project is you don’t have to be an artist to do it. We have a lot of people who have never painted before or wouldn’t call themselves crafty that decide to give this a go and in fact this year we’ve sold so far 30 tubes to 21 different people so 21 different artists new or old.”

Tubes will be auctioned off on the bandstand in central park at noon on Saturday July 28th. Proceeds will benefit Latinos for Washington Inc. and the LET’S Center. For more information on artists participating in the gallery walk click here.
