Washington defender Garrett Ikerd was named to the 2018 Academic All-State team for boys’ soccer as an honorable mention.

Ikerd, along with six of his teammates, were named to the Academic All-Southeast Conference team earlier this year, which is an honor that is given to juniors and seniors with a GPA over 3.25.  The junior’s classwork far exceeded those requirements, being Washington’s lone representative on the Academic All-State team.

Head coach Sally Hart is happy for Ikerd’s achievement, and says his classroom abilities transfer onto the soccer field as well.

“I’m really proud for Garrett to get this honor,” Hart said.  “He works hard both in the classroom, on and off the field.  He’s a leader, and he’s somebody we’re always able to rely on.  We look forward to having him back next year for his senior season, and we just want to say congratulations.”
