The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday in the substate round of the class 1A playoffs, dropping a contest to No. 2 Lisbon by a 10-2 score at Dick Sojka Memorial Field in Washington.

The Lions entered the game with an unblemished 33-0 record on the year, the only unbeaten team remaining in the state, and wasted little time showing why, posting four runs on five first inning hits against IMS ace Blake Bontrager. Lisbon extended their lead to 6-0 with two more in the second. IMS broke through with a run in the third after loading the bases with no one out, Eli Ours hit into a double play driving in Noah Miller with the contact to pull IMS within 6-1. Lisbon put the game out of reach scoring twice more in the fourth and fifth innings to build a 10-1 lead. Iowa Mennonite got one more in the seventh with Jacob Boller scoring on contact from Trevor Leyden.

Brett Givens got the win for Lisbon, improving to 11-0 on the year with his four innings of work, giving up two hits, one run and striking out four. Bontrager took the loss for IMS, throwing four and two thirds innings. IMS was led at the plate by Cole Ours with a three for four night and Jacob Boller with a two for three night and a run scored. IMS says good bye to three seniors Isaiah Swantz, Reggie Borntrager and Cole Ours.
