A Sigourney-based business is closing its doors.

Iowa Shrimp Farms announced Monday that it is closing operations. The reason they cited was that the North American shrimp supply chain has been disrupted by the closure announcement of the largest nursery shrimp supplier. They stated their mission was to provide fresh, local, sustainably produced shrimp, and that this dream will become reality for another pioneering venture at a later time. Iowa Shrimp Farms began operations in early 2017 in the former home of Sedna Warehousing by Mark Bretz, Bill Thomasson, and Craig Meacham.
