The Lone Tree Lion softball team opened the postseason with a 15-3 win in three innings over Iowa Mennonite Monday at Lone Tree.

It was IMS that took an early lead, scoring three times in the first against Lion starter Abby Buckman. Suzanna Yoder led off the inning with a single, Rubye Ney reached on an error and then Avery Blauvelt smacked a double to the left center field gap to score them both. Sarah Miller singled later in the inning to drive in Blauvelt and make it 3-0. The Lady Lions responded in the bottom half of the frame with 11 runs on nine hits, sending 17 batters to the plate. From there Lone Tree continued to add on, scoring once more in the second and three times in the third to end the game early. Buckman got the win in the circle, striking out six in three innings. Bontrager took the loss for IMS. Holley Johnson led Lone Tree with a three for three night, five RBI and two runs scored. IMS wraps up their season at 3-16 and says goodbye to four seniors Alyssa Hershberger, Joya Schrock, Hannah Harris and Avery Blauvelt. Lone Tree advances to the 1A regional quarterfinals Tuesday when they travel to New Sharon to take on North Mahaska.
