The Sigourney Savage softball team heads into the postseason ranked eighth in class 1A in the final rankings, with a final regular season record of 20-6.

The Savages have a first-round bye, and they play their first postseason action tonight against Cedar League foe Tri-County, the same team they beat 16-4 to finish out the regular season.  The Savages also beat them 13-1 in their second game of the season.

The Savages are led offensively by seniors Madi Schauf, whose 47 RBI are good for top-20 in the state across all classes, and Autum Barthelman, who’s hitting .518 and is a perfect 40 for 40 on stolen bases this season.

Jordan VanEe will likely get the start in the circle tonight against the Trojans.  In 23 starts, she boasts a 17-5 record with a 1.77 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 122.2 innings of work.

That one is a home game for the Savages.  Start time in Sigourney is currently set for 7:00.
