In less than a week thousands of bicyclists will be in Sigourney as an overnight stop on RAGBRAI.

Sigourney Executive Committee Co-Chair Amber Kephart shares what the last week has in store, “It is very, very busy. We’ve got a lot of signs that have got to be put up. We’ve got last minute placements for toilets and garbage cans, ice trailers, all of the last minute details like that we need to make sure they’re all set in stone so it’s just a lot of last minute things.”

Riders will be camping at the Keokuk County Expo Grounds as well as other area campgrounds and a shuttle will transport riders all day to downtown where kids activities, inflatables, a beer tent and three bands will be performing.

Kephart comments on residents stepping up to host visitors, “It went really well we had a phenomenal chair that was in charge of our housing department and she did a great job in getting the community involved and I can’t remember exactly the number of people that have opened up their homes to people but it is a very large percentage of our community that stepped up and opened up their homes to visitors.”

Riders will be heading into Sigourney from Highway 149 Thursday, July 26th, and will be heading out on Highway 92 Friday, July 27th to the next overnight stop in Iowa City.
