Details are coming together in a contractual agreement between Washington County and RACOM for the purchase of new emergency radio equipment.

At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting Washington County Attorney John Gish and board members discussed the most recent draft of the equipment contract and a payment schedule. The listed price for the equipment is $4.4 million with a schedule of six payments. As the contract is written now, the first payment, 15% of the total, around $600,000 would be due at the signing of the contract. RACOM confirmed with board member Jack Seward Jr. via email that they would accept that payment in mid-September. Gish and the Supervisors agreed to this payment schedule and made plans to rework this draft of the contract to include that information and other clarification points surrounding acceptance tests for the equipment and what tasks make the punch list for those tests. Action on signing the contract was tabled until changes can be made and more discussion can take place.
