Nearly $3,000 was raised through an annual art auction in downtown Washington Saturday.

The LET’s Center for the Healing and Creative Arts partnered with Latinos for Washington, Inc. for their Totally Tubular Transformation event. Each year residents are asked to show their creativity and transform water softener tubes into pieces of art. The fourth year of this event featured various Latin culture-themed tubes.

Sonia Leyva with Latinos for Washington, Inc. shares how it felt being a part of this event, “It was amazing just seeing all of the artwork up there all the beautiful masterpieces. The creativity I think is amazing and each piece is different and unique and it takes so much time. So much time goes into it and so much love and so I was happy that it was a good turnout, lots of people came and supported and bought and also had a good time. We had some food and drinks and dessert, and I think it was just a good time to kind of talk to people we maybe haven’t seen for a while and just be here together.”

Isabella Santoro with the LET’s Center says approximately $2,900 in proceeds from the auction will be split between the two organizations, with 31 tubes sold.
