Discussions have begun on making improvements to a county park.

A needs assessment was brought to the Washington County Conservation Board about Fern Cliff County Park at their recent meeting. Located west of Crawfordsville, Fern Cliff is a 56-acre wooded multi-use area popular for squirrel and other game hunting. Conservation Executive Director Steve Anderson provided some background information on the park to the board, “We just looked at the condition of the shelter which is poor and the latrine which is also poor so we’re starting to look at what upgrades we can start to plan up there.”

Anderson says the park facilities are reaching the end of their life, as the shelter was built in the 1960s and the latrine in the 1980s. Anderson says next steps in the project will involve the board taking a tour of the facilities to determine what improvements should be made.
