Changes are coming to the K9 unit at the Washington Police Department. K9 Officer Brett Sorrells tells KCII Radio that he plans to retire in March of 2019.

When he retires, so will Ultra the K9 officer, after ten years of service to the people of Washington. Replacing Officer Sorrells in the K9 program will be Officer Seth Adam, and fundraising has begun to acquire and train a new dog. Approximately half of the estimated $22,000 needed has been raised. Ultra is the second K9 Officer Sorrells has worked with, the first being Rex. Between Rex and Ultra, over one million dollars of narcotics has been taken off of the streets.
