The Keota Eagle softball team continued a streak this season; and it’s not a streak you want to have.

For the third straight year, the Eagles did not win a single game.  The program’s last win dates back to July 7, 2015 when they beat winless Harmony 11-1 in five innings.  Since then, they have been the victim of the mercy rule several times; including 15 of their 17 losses this season coming in five innings or less.

Offensively, the Eagles’ best batting average was .250, which came in the form of eighth-grader Taylor Kindred.  No player had any more than three RBI throughout the year, as they had as many RBI as a team as they did losses this season.  As a whole, Eagle pitchers finished the year with a combined 19.91 ERA; the second-highest in the state.

On the bright side, every player on the roster will be eligible to return next season.  Having a core with a year under their belts together could be a start at snapping that streak, and eventually getting back to winning fashion.
