Tonight marks the beginning of the volleyball seasons for Columbus, Sigourney and WACO, and all three will be competing in the WACO tournament to do it.

The Wildcats, Savages and Warriors are just three teams competing in this tournament tonight, along with Centerville, Pekin, Van Buren, Wapello and West Burlington.  Head WACO volleyball coach Jay Coble says the tournament will not only be good for his team, but will also just be a good start to the volleyball season.

“That’ll be a good night for us, just because we need to play somebody else.  The scrimmages have been good, but it’ll be good just to see what we’ve got and how we’re going to play this year,” Coble said.  “So that’ll be a good one.  Hopefully the weather is nice.  It’s usually one of the first tournaments of the year; it’s the first night anyone can play.  So we’re looking forward to that.”

Columbus, Sigourney and WACO all lost their season openers a season ago, so they’ll all look to get the year started off right tonight at WACO High School.  The tournament starts at 5:00.
