The Sigourney/Keota Cobra football team starts its season on Friday.  And boy, will it be fun.

They start off the year with a matchup head coach Jared Jensen describes as a “backyard brawl”, welcoming Pekin to town.  Jensen says this particular game, year in and year out, is almost always a shootout.

“I think every time we’ve played Pekin, its been a barn-burner for the most part,” Jensen said.  “There have been a couple times the last eight years that have been not necessarily a blowout, but [someone has] won by a couple touchdowns.  But every other game, it seems to always come down to the fourth quarter, and a lot of times the last drive of the game.”

“I think you’re going to see two teams that are going to be battling it out.  It’s the backyard brawl.  It’s a brawl all the way through; it’s an exciting game.”

Kickoff for the backyard brawl in Sigourney is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
