The Sigourney Savage baseball team had four players named to the all-South Iowa Cedar League squads in one form or another.

One first-teamer highlighted the all-conference selections for the Savages in junior catcher Carson Crawford.  Crawford, also a first-team all-district selection, was the star of the team this season offensively with a .433 batting average.  His 19 RBI through SICL play was good for third in the conference, and his .479 average against conference opponents was good for a place in the top five among regular players.

The Savages had three second-team selections in Mac Conrad, Dustin Haines and Josh Mohr.  Despite being named as an outfielder, Conrad, the team’s other all-district player (second-team), saw success both offensively and on the pitcher’s mound.

From a pitching standpoint, he often served as their closer in tight games; he was the only Savage to post multiple saves this season.  His 1.83 ERA was the second-lowest on the team, and he posted 11 strikeouts in just 7.2 innings of work.  Offensively, he was the only other Savage player with an average above .300.

Mohr was a standout performer in his freshman season.  He hit .266 on the year, but his 25 walks (top in the conference in that category) helped boost his on-base percentage to over 200 points higher at .484.  He also scored 25 runs, which was good for tops on the team and seventh in the conference.

Haines was named to one of the two utility spots on the second team.  He led the team in starts on mound for the season with seven and finished with a 3-2 record on a 4.07 ERA and 27 strikeouts through 32.2 innings of work.  At the plate, Haines finished with a solid .281 batting average and 10 RBI.

The all-conference selections were rounded out with an honorable mention, which was given to junior Nick Goad.  He finished with a .268 batting average and 13 RBI, and sported a stout .911 fielding percentage.  He also saw some time on the pitcher’s mound, appearing in relief nine times and striking out 16 through 16.1 innings pitched.

All five of Sigourney’s all-conference players, as well as the entire rest of the roster, will return next season.
