After the program’s first winning season since 2011, the Keota baseball team got four players named to the all-conference team for the South Iowa Cedar League.

One Eagle was named first-team in junior Austin Waterhouse.  Waterhouse was selected as a utility player for his efforts at the plate and on the mound.  As a pitcher, he was second in the SICL in strikeouts across conference play, and he had the most starts in the conference throughout the whole season with 12.  Offensively, he was the only non-senior on the Keota squad to hit over the .300 mark with a .310 batting average.

There was also one second-teamer for Keota in senior Jack Eakins.  Across conference play, Eakins finished sixth in the league in RBI with 17.  He was also one of the team’s leaders in batting average (.302) and finished second on the team in RBI (20).

Two Eagles, both seniors, were given honorable mentions in Hunter Wilson and Cole Brenneman.  Wilson missed the end of his senior season due to injury, but was one of the strongest assets to the team throughout the year.  He hit just below .300 at .286 and drove in 17 runs.  He was one of three Eagles to finish with 20 or more runs scored.

Brenneman, despite only getting an honorable mention to the all-conference team, was named second-team all-district by the IHSBCA.  He led the team in RBI with 21 and finished second on the team in average at a .317 clip.  Much like his fellow senior Eakins, Brenneman also finished in the top ten in the league in RBI through conference play.

The Eagles will say goodbye to three of their four all-conference selections in Brenneman, Eakins and Wilson, as well as catcher Riley Conrad.
