The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team will be replacing some key players lost to graduation from the 2017 squad.

On the special teams side of the ball that starts with the kicking game where Terryhn Jacoby handled the kicking duties including field goals and extra points since 2015. He was 18 of 19 on PATs last year and 1/5 in field goal attempts. The all-district kicker also served as the team’s punter the last two seasons, averaging 37 yards per kick a year ago.

In the return game, the Golden Hawks lost their two leaders by the numbers from last season in Jacoby and Keaton Duwa. The Golden Hawks do return Justin Schwartz who averaged 14 yards per punt return last year and 19 yards per kickoff return a season ago.

Mid-Prairie opens their season Friday when they travel to Grinnell to battle the class 3A Tigers. We’ll be on the air with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 7p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com.
