Today and Saturday is Iowa’s annual sales tax holiday.

The event happens on the first Friday and Saturday of August and businesses that are open on these days are required to participate. No sales tax, including local option sales tax, will be collected on sales of an article of clothing or footwear with a price of less than $100. This exemption does not include watches, jewelry, sporting equipment, or special clothing or footwear designed primarily for athletic activity or protective use.
