On any baseball team, having a good pitching staff is a must to have a successful season.  Washington’s 21-12 season can attest to that, especially when you factor in junior Chase McDole.

McDole was the team’s leader in earned run average among starting pitchers, boasting a 1.65 ERA for the season.  He was even better in conference play, throwing for a 1.40 ERA in four starts against league foes; he was second in the conference among starting pitchers in that mark.  His successes earned him a first-team all-conference spot as a pitcher.  He’ll return next year for his senior season.
