Mount Pleasant is in the midst of their biggest annual event the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion and without the effort of community volunteers after Tuesday night’s severe weather, the show might not have gone on.

Tuesday night was scary to say the least, according to Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Executive Vice President Kristi Ray, but when the sun came out Wednesday morning, so did the volunteers. Ray says it was refreshing to see the community come together to clean up the damage downtown and at Midwest Old Threshers, “I was at Old Threshers last night. If you could have seen the facility yesterday morning, I think a lot of people would have said there was no way that we would even be able to have the show this weekend. The grandstand area the track was totally underwater and by 3 o’clock the parade went on, by 7 o’clock the horse pull went on with a full grandstand of people, and that was all due 100% to the fact that volunteers showed up in droves and helped get everything cleaned up.”

Ray mentioned the effort was nothing short of remarkable as they cleaned up the damage done to the craft booth tents in the downtown area for Crafts in the Park going on through Sunday. The Midwest Old Threshers Reunion lasts through Labor Day.
