After a 12-10 season, Sigourney junior Carson Crawford was given first-team honors for both the all-conference and the all-district teams.  Looking at the stats, there’s a reason for that.

Across the entire season, Crawford led his team in most major offensive categories; he was the only Savage to hit above .400 on the year (.433) and drive in 20 + runs (23 RBI), and he reached base nearly 60 percent of the time (.595 OBP).

Crawford finished in the top five in many categories across the South Iowa Cedar League in conference play as well.  He placed fifth in the conference among regular players in batting average (.479) and on-base percentage (.609), third in RBI with 19, and tops in the conference in extra-base hits with 11 (10 doubles, one triple).

Defensively, he was about as lights-out as they come.  He boasted a stout .994 fielding percentage at the at the catcher spot while throwing out a sixth of the base-runners that attempted to steal on him, and committed only one error on the entire year.

Crawford will return next year for his senior season.
