Summer presents the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, and the Washington Betterment Foundation has a way you can do that and help a great cause.

The group has coordinated a revival of the City Garden Walk set for Sunday, August 12th. Washington Betterment Foundation member Steve Roth talked about what people will see at the event. “We have some really neat places, some different places I’m sure people will be excited to see. I know Jeannie is just  outstanding on her place, she spends a lot of time in her garden and they have a pond in the back. These places will feature some ponds. Tom and Connie Wheelan bought the train depot, they have a caboose sitting in their backyard, plus they have a lot of antiques in their garden, I’m anxious to see that one. Also my place, I have three ponds with fish in the ponds. I’m sure that a lot of people out there would like to see the beautiful gardens in Washington Iowa.”

There are five homes on this year’s tour including Tara Bucci at 405 South 9th Avenue, Tom and Connie Wheelan at 428 North Iowa Avenue, Steve and Tammy Roth at 914 South Iowa Avenue, Gary and Jeannie Kos at 615 West Adams Street and the Sunset Park Garden and Cabin. Tickets are $10 and you can purchase them the day of the event from any of the homes on the tour. The tour will operate from 1-5p.m.
