The Winfield-Mt. Union softball team enjoyed their first winning season in more than a decade this year, and their work in the circle was a big reason why.

The Wolves ended the year ranked fourth in the state in class 1A in opponent batting average, allowing a stingy .151 average against. The Wolves allowed the second fewest hits, only 84 on the year, less than five per game. WMU allowed just 36 walks on the year, seventh fewest in the state and racked up 249 Ks, seventh most opponent strikeouts in the state. All of those impressive numbers belong to Madie Anderson who threw every inning for the Wolves this season. WMU finished with an 11-8 overall record.
