The Winfield-Mt. Union football team will be in front of the home fans Friday for the first time in 2018 when they welcome English Valleys to Winfield.

The Wolves are 0-1 on the year after a week 0 loss to Springville 52-28. The game was tight statistically with WMU being outgained 259-224. In his first career start at quarterback Daunte Oepping was 2/9 through the air for 47 yards and a score as he connected with Brandon Snowden on a 42 yarder. Juanito Piper led the Wolves on the ground with 68 yards rushing on 16 carries. Andrew Brady and Oepping each added a score on the ground.

English Valleys opened the season in week 0 also, hammering Twin Cedars 70-6 to snap a seven game losing streak. The Wolves are looking to snap a streak of their own. WMU has not come out on the winning end of a game since accepting a forfeit from Danville on September 16th of 2016. The Wolves last win in a contested game came in the 2015 playoffs over North Linn, a total stretch of 20 consecutive games.

These teams have not met since 2011 when the Wolves scored a 16-14 win at home. Kickoff between the Wolves and the Bears is scheduled for 7p.m. At Winfield-Mt. Union High School.
