The Washington cross country teams ran at Fairfield’s Waterworks Park on Thursday night, with the boys coming in seventh in team scores and the girls placing sixth.

It was another successful race for Evan Horak, with the junior placing fourth in a 66-runner field.  He took 25 seconds off his time from the Pekin meet, finishing at 17.20.  Lance Sobaski wasn’t terribly far behind placement-wise, coming in 21st with a time of 18.54, which was also an improvement from last week.

For the girls’ part, the top finisher was Claire Horak at 19th with a 22.51 time; a whole minute and a second faster than her time at the first meet of the year.  Tori Hinson, who beat Horak in Ottumwa last week, was four places behind her this time at 23rd.  Despite coming in second on the team this time around, she still shed 26 seconds off her Pekin time.

Their next meet will be next Thursday at 5:00 in Fort Madison.
