After on 0-2 start, the now 3-2 Washington Demon football team has rolled through these last three weeks.  That streak will be put to the test tonight, though, when they travel to take on their toughest opponent of the year in fourth-ranked Solon.

The offense has scored an average of 33.3 points per game in their last three games, outscoring opponents 97-45.  Quarterback Luke Turner has been at the forefront of this high-powered attack, accumulating 718 total yards (554 through the air, 164 on the ground) and 12 total touchdowns (seven passing, five rushing).

But this offense will be put to the test against a stout Solon defense; one that has only allowed 41 points all season long.  After the Demons’ win against Keokuk last week, head coach James Harris said his team, despite their strong play of late, still had a ways to go to compete with the Spartans.

“We need to be better if we’re gonna play with Solon.  Coach Miller has a standard of excellence program in Southeast Iowa.  They’re really talented; they’re physical.  They’ll give us everything we want if we’re not ready to go,” Harris said.

“That being said, I think if we do our due diligence, work as hard as we can, we’ll come out and lace it up on Friday.”
