With favorable weather over the summer and the temporary closures of two area state parks, Lake Darling State Park has seen a greater number of visitors this year.

The park facilities are consistently busy according to Park Ranger Zach Haworth, “And I look back at last year and I thought man I don’t know if we can really be as busy as we were last year and then this year we’re on track to surpass all of our numbers and data that we keep track of, we’re on track to surpass all that for this year. So it’s been incredibly busy both from the campground side of things as well as in the cabins.”

Haworth says it’s so far been a great year, and though kids have gone back to school and temperatures will eventually get cooler, attendance won’t be slowing down much in the next couple months as visitors are still enjoying the campgrounds and cabins. The boathouse operated by the Friends of Lake Darling is closed for rest of the year, but visitors can still enjoy the hiking trails, fishing areas, and other amenities at the state park.
