The Lone Tree football team played their home opener last week; it didn’t go nearly as they had hoped, losing to Iowa Valley 56-17.  They’ll play another road game this week before three straight home games, traveling to Victor to take on HLV.

The Lions’ last road game resulted in a win, beating Montezuma 36-25.  Bryce Houser went off in that one, carrying the football 27 times for 189 yards and two touchdowns.  Against Iowa Valley last week, though, eight Lion rushers, including Houser, combined for just 77 yards and one score.  Following the loss, head coach Aaron Bohr said the focus in practice won’t be so much on HLV as it will be on them.

“I think the focus has got to be on us this week.  We’ve just got to make sure, as a unit, that we’re getting guys in the best position to play; that we’re playing hard every single snap,” Bohr said.  “Cause HLV, they’re just like Iowa Valley.  They’re a team that’s going to bring it, they’re a team that’s very physical, and they’re a team that, if we don’t dot our I’s and cross our T’s, we’re going to have a very tough time with.  So we gotta get ready.”

Kickoff in Victor is set for 7:00.
