The Lone Tree Lion football team was supposed to travel to HLV this past Friday night but Mother Nature had a different idea, so the game was moved to Lone Tree.  But the boys from Victor came out the victors in this one, beating the Lions 40-26.

The Lions held a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Warriors scored two touchdowns in the second against Lone Tree’s one to go up 16-12 at the half.  The Lions scored one touchdown per quarter, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Warrior attack.  The Lions were down by just one score late in the fourth quarter, but a 53-yard touchdown run from HLV’s Dean Shaull sealed the deal.

Harmon Miller had another good performance at quarterback in the loss, completing 50 percent of his passes for 224 yards and two scores, including a 77-yard touchdown pass to Brady Dauber in the fourth quarter.  The running game was a bit down, however, with five rushers combining for just 52 yards, 26 of which came on a Bryce Houser touchdown run.

They’ll look to get back to their winning ways this Friday night at home, but they’ll have their work cut out for them against a New London team ranked fourth in the Gazette poll.  Kickoff in Lone Tree is set for 7:00.
