The City of Riverside is getting close to accepting an agreement for the Northern Heights Development.

APEX Construction and Jeff Edberg of Lepic-Kroeger Realtors presented the final copy of the agreement for a residential development of 28 acres of property north of Riverside in a purchase agreement between Yeggy Roetlin Farms and APEX. The agreement states that the city will be responsible for the expense of the design and construction costs of concrete paving of Tupelo Boulevard to the entrance of the subdivision, as well as the design and construction cost of sanitary sewer, water, gas and electric utilities, cable and other improvements to such entrance. The first phase of the annexation holds 16 lots, and the city agrees to fund infrastructure improvements in multiple phases of the subdivision through at least 2022 and agrees to pay at least $610 per linear foot beginning in 2019 with an annual increase per foot equal to the Consumer Price Index adjustment.

Mayor Allen Schneider comments on this project, “I’m feeling good about it, I’m feeling positive. I think this is something that will provide properties within Riverside for people who are looking to buy. I think we’ve shown with a couple smaller subdivisions that we’ve done over the last few years that there’s demand for this type of property. So it’ll be great to get it up and going again if that’s what the city council decides, that we’ve got a lot of priorities right now and if this isn’t one of them I will fully support that but I think the project is very positive and in a short amount of time we could see quite a bit of growth in town.”

A work session was held Monday to review the agreement and a public hearing has been scheduled for acceptance of the agreement on September 17th at 6:30 p.m. at Riverside City Hall.
