Construction on a courtroom is nearly finished in Winfield, but it won’t see cases of a typical nature.

Grasshorse Character Animation Studio in Winfield is developing a new adult-geared animated/live-action hybrid comedy television show called “Puppet Justice.” The show will feature a gavel puppet as the judge, a “peanut gallery” of wise-cracking puppets, and actors portraying the plaintiff and defendant in this parody of courtroom reality shows.

The set has been built and painted inside the studio in downtown Winfield. Grasshorse Founder and Director Steve Jennings shares how the show is progressing, “We are very, very, very, very close, like if we had to shoot today it would not kill me if we did. We have the light things up and everything, there’s little touch ups here and there, but it’ll be an interim process. We’ll shoot something, see if it works, if it doesn’t, change it and then keep on improving it. But I’m really happy with where we’re at and I plan to start shooting maybe in a month, two months, very, very short pieces that are about one minute long.”

Jennings plans to post these shorts to the Puppet Justice and Grasshorse YouTube channels and Instagram accounts, as he’s gradually growing a fan base for this project. Jennings predicts in about nine months when he feels the show is ready and the fanbase is large enough he will shoot the pilot to shop to potential television or streaming networks for distribution.
