Iowa’s corn crop is about five days ahead of average and soybeans are one week ahead of average.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the state’s farmers had an average of only three days suitable for fieldwork due to storms and heavy rainfall last week. In southeast Iowa 83% of corn is mature and 19% has been harvested for grain. At this time last year only three percent of corn had been harvested for grain in Iowa. Currently in southeast Iowa 12% of soybeans have been harvested, ahead of the five-year average of three percent.
