Have you been wanting to try out a locally-owned Washington restaurant?

From now until September 23rd, participating restaurants in Washington and 28 other Iowa communities are offering dining discounts and special activities as part of the second annual Main Street Iowa Restaurant Week. The specials in Washington are a “Taste for $20,” with two entrees with any two sides at JP’s 207, at Cafe Dodici you can get any two meals and two desserts for $20 during lunch and any two pastas for $20 at dinner. Dodici’s Shop is offering a 16 ounce tumbler, drink of choice in the tumbler, cookie or scone, and a $5 gift card; or a sandwich, cup of soup and choice of cookie, chips, or cooler drink for $20.

Main Street Washington Executive Director Sarah Grunewaldt explains why residents should visit these restaurants and others across Iowa during restaurant week, “You know it’s a really unique way of getting out and exploring not only your own community but other communities who are also growing and changing and being progressive and thinking about their future. And there’s a lot of really great restaurants, like hidden gems in the state of Iowa. I think we have lots of really great restaurants in this town that are wonderful and that we like to share with the outside world, and so why not go to another town and see their hidden gems.”
