Two tornadoes northeast of Winfield during Tuesday’s storms have been confirmed by the National Weather Service. Severe storms swept across eastern Iowa Tuesday afternoon and produced four tornadoes, one in Cedar County, one in Linn County, and two in Henry County. The first tornado touched down for about two minutes at 1:26 p.m. with peak winds of 85 miles per hour. It’s path was about a quarter of a mile long and 20 yards wide. There was damage to corn and trees.

A second tornado was on the ground at 2:14 p.m. and it’s path length was just over one mile. The maximum width was 200 yards. Trees that fell damaged some houses and the estimated peak winds were 95 miles per hour.
